Privacy Policy

Clegg (Card Night) · Last updated 2026-04-23

Short version: Clegg collects no personal information, runs no analytics, and does not sell or share data. Almost everything the app stores stays on your device. The only exception is online multiplayer, where the display name you choose and your in-game actions are sent to other players in your game room through a real-time messaging service.

What the app stores on your device

Clegg uses your device's local storage (AsyncStorage on mobile, equivalent on web) to remember:

None of this data is transmitted off your device unless you join an online multiplayer game.

Online multiplayer

When you create or join an online multiplayer game, the following data is sent to Ably, the real-time messaging service we use to synchronize game state between players:

Other players in your game room see your display name and game actions. We do not request or collect your real name, email, phone number, location, or any other personal identifier.

Ably's handling of this traffic is governed by Ably's privacy policy.

What we do not collect

Children's privacy

Clegg is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information from anyone, it is compliant with COPPA, GDPR, and similar frameworks by design.

Data retention and deletion

Local data on your device persists until you uninstall the app or clear its storage. There is no account to delete because there is no account.

Multiplayer session data handled by Ably is ephemeral: it exists only for the duration of an active game room and is not retained long-term.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Changes are announced in the app's release notes.
